An evolving brains trust for ISO certification.
Standards, certificate types and buyer requirements can change. This page explains the current editions of the management system standards we work with and the difference between an iCertify certificate and an accredited one. Use it to ask better questions before committing to an assessment.
Explore iCertify certification ↗Start with the meaning
Standard, certification and accreditation are different things.
The distinction matters most when a customer or tender specifies the type of certificate it will accept.
1. The ISO standard
ISO publishes the requirements. ISO itself does not assess organisations or issue certificates. Check the standard and edition named in your contract.
2. Certification
A certificate identifies the issuer, assessed standard, scope and decision. iCertify can issue its own unaccredited certificate after its assessment.
3. Accreditation
Accreditation is a separate assessment of the certification body. iCertify's certificates are not accredited by JAS-ANZ or another accreditation body.
Read ISO's explanation of certification and use the JAS-ANZ register when an accredited body is required.

Four questions before you buy certification.
- What does the buyer require? Ask whether an unaccredited certificate is accepted, especially for tenders or regulated work.
- Which standard and edition? Agree whether ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 22000 or a combination applies and name the edition.
- What is in scope? Identify the legal entity, activities, locations and processes to be assessed.
- What evidence and decision process? Ask the issuer to explain the assessment method, findings, certificate decision and follow-up.
Our ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO 22000 pages explain the kinds of management system evidence to consider.
